The ability to of our body to detox itself is one of the most important aspects of health. Our body organically repairs itself routinely, but this function is also heavily dependent on what we put in our bodies. In our environment, we constantly accumulate and remove byproducts that can potentially accelerate aging, negative symptoms, and chronic health conditions. Cancer, for example, is one of the most common concerns in America, with its number one risk factor being poor lifestyle.  A wellness doctor who uses evidence-based medical approaches can assess your body's ability to detox, and moreover maximize these pathways. SIGNS OF POOR DETOXIFICATION, AND WHAT TO DO:  

Excessive Fatigue is one of the most common complaints, which often results from excessive toxic buildup when the answer cannot otherwise be found by way of a thorough evaluation.  Secondly, Hormone Imbalances and Premenstrual Syndrome are also symptoms of poor detoxification, as the liver cannot effectively clear our bodily hormones. In addition to chemicals and pollutants, our liver also detoxifies our endogenous compounds. Belly Bloating and Excessive Gas are yet another example of common symptoms indicative of poor detoxification. As the gut shifts towards a state of imbalance, unfriendly bacteria and organisms begin to flourish, and constipation may ensue. This inhibits proper detox from the body and encourages the accumulation of harmful substances, leading to both gastrointestinal complaints and even systemic problems throughout the body.  Human exposure to heavy metals and pesticides have soared due to an exponential increase of industrialization, inorganic farming techniques, and technology, and all of these factors put a heavy load on our detox organs.  Chemical sensitivities and food allergies are just some consequences of these changes. With the increased use of makeup, pharmaceuticals and plastics (not to mention electromagnetic frequencies), we are constantly bombarded with inflammatory agents which too add to our overall body burden.  Last but certainly not least, poor sleep is another key symptom. Inadequate sleep, stemming from conditions such as undiagnosed sleep apnea, affects nearly 60 million Americans every year and has been linked to inflammation accumulating in the body.
